Continuous Casting/Die Tapper
The Need
Continuous casting is a process where molten metal is continuously fed to a cooled die, which is open on the lower end. For a successful process, the chilling of the metal is precisely controlled.
The Challenge
To compensate for shrinkage the die must be set at a taper as the correct taper angle is crucial for a successful process.
The Solution
Utilize Sherborne Sensors’ LSOC Inclinometer or the stackable T935 Inclinometer, depending on the cast and what part will fit the given real estate.
The sensors will also likely be installed in an enclosure and filled with fluid to isolate them from the immense temperature and vibration.
