The Need

The interaction between the rail wheel and the rail tracks is complex and subject to wear and tear. Safety and comfort are the driving forces to understanding these parameters for product improvement or monitoring the performance of equipment in use. Tilt monitoring and detection are essential measurements conducted by sensors that work under extreme conditions. Excessive shock, temperature fluctuations, dust, and debris impacts are factors to be considered in the choice of sensor type.

The Challenge

Measuring inclination on the bogie of a rail carriage requires a sensor with the highest precision and the ability to withstand a harsh environment in regards to temperature, shock, sealing, and mounting.
