The precision of an industrial robot is directly dependent on the precise alignment of every single axis.

Project Challenges
The single biggest challenge is keeping the precise amount of force necessary to keep a solid connection The offset of each axis has to be measured not only in production, after mounting the robot, but also after the installation at the customer site.
-These offsets are then to be known and compensated by the process control system.

The Solution

-For all axis, the robot is put in zero-position.
-With a special 2-D Sherborne Sensors’ inclination sensor the offsets are then determined in X- and Y-direction and are compared to the reference on the foot of the robot.
-Afterwards, these values are stored in the process control.

Sherborne Sensors’ high precision inclinometers measure horizontal and vertical angular inclination with virtually infinite resolution; providing highly accurate tilt and inclination measurements for demanding industrial applications.
